The basic tracks for Heat Stroke were recorded in Jacksonville, FL, on the night of July 3, 2023, during one of the hottest summers in memory. This was the first time we have ever recorded or played together in person. There was no plan, no script, no agenda. The five tracks on this EP were culled from a single, hour-long improvisation, and Scott made additional overdubs later. Editing was kept to a minimum in order to preserve the sparse, spontaneous feel.

Mike’s real-time exploration of the Arturia Microfreak’s capabilities contributes mightily to this session's sense of freedom and unpredictability. The semi-improvisational nature of this recording sets it far apart from all of our previous releases. We like to think this music represents what a Sadassa Silvia live performance might sound like. Though it is far from perfect, it may be the most authentic Sadassa Silvia music yet.
